Health Risk Assessments
Health Risk Assessments (HRAs) are an assessment tool used to evaluate a person’s health.
They provide the information needed to assist employers in developing a profile of the health of its employees as a group and they play a useful role as a starting point for engaging individual employees in the behavioural changes neccessary for improving their health and fitness.
The assessment usually takes the form of an extended questionaire that enquires into the personal lifestyle, and personal and family medical history. The assessment may also include a physical examination, laboratory blood tests, blood pressure and physical fitness measurements. The outcome is a profile identifying specific risks with strategies and targets for reducing those risks.
Mishfitness works closely with Life Clinic Limited in providing these services and additional information can be gained by going to www.lifeclinic.co.nz and clicking on Health Assessments.
Nutritional Advice
Exercise and nutrition go hand in hand and in fact, many argue that nutrition is just as important, or indeed more important, than exercise.
Failing to recognise the importance of nutrition and failing to incorporate it into your everyday life will not only eventually impact on your health, but all the hard work you put into exercising just won't produce the results you are looking for.
Exercise and nutrition are both crucial tools that will help you live your life to the fullest. In order to give yourself the best chance of leading a healthy life and succeeding in your daily activities it makes sense therefore to not only exercise regularly but also fuel your body with food that is high in nutrients.
Mishfitness has recently teamed up with two of New Zealand’s leading dietitians from FoodSavvy, who are passionate about helping people learn about nutrition to get healthy and stay healthy while also enjoying their food! To read more about our dietitians go to www.foodsavvy.co.nz.
Mishfitness works in conjunction with FoodSavvy Dietitians to ensure that all its programmes include realistic nutritional advice based on personal needs, lifestyles, and food preferences. In addition Mishfitness and FoodSavvy jointly offer a range of programmes including health and fitness seminars, supermarket tours, healthy cooking demonstrations and workplace based nutritional consultations.
Workstation Assessments
Workplace injury costs organisations time and money and managers are therefore well aware of the importance of taking a proactive approach towards taking care of their employees.
A large proportion of work related health problems can be attributed to musculoskeletal disorder. Incorrect workstation setup for instance can lead to poor posture and musculoskeletal discomfort which over time can result in headaches, neck and back pain, as well as overuse syndromes, particularly for those involved in extensive computer based work.
Mishfitness works with Rachael Burke from Physiofixme in offering workstation assessments consisting of observing, evaluating and reporting on the physical, environmental and ergonomic requirements of the duties that an employee performs. The findings from the assessment can be used to construct a better work environment which allows for the proper positioning of the body and a reduction in workplace injuries.
